Day 46: Six week check up

Luke’s 6 week check up was yesterday. The doctor noticed his legs are still really stiff, so he said to double the physical therapy. :-0  He also said its okay to take him on walks now!! Yay…when the weather improves, ill take him for a walk and video tape it for everyone. Other then the stiffness, he said Lucas is improving really well. We asked about the 3 other disc and about the laser. Doc said the laser probably wont be there for another few months, and we should wait up to a year to make sure Lucas is fully recovered. Sounds like he recommended we get the laser done, cause he said luke is 6 times likely to have another disc rupture again. And we don’t want this to happen again! There could be high risk he could be paralyzed forever if he has another rupture. I’m going to still stay really strict with him and keep watching him 24-7 to make sure he doesn’t do anything ’stupid’.

 

Day 43: Slow down rabbit

Lucas gets a little better everyday. Seems like the more rest he gets the better he walks. Lately he’s been trying to run, which he shouldn’t do too much. He doesn’t really run…he just hops like a rabbit. He has a new nickname now; ‘Lukie the rabbit.’ When he runs we yell ’slow down rabbit.’ silly. I’m so glad he’s back to normal. I mean just not his legs but his personality is back. The only thing i can really tell that has changed is he listens to me. Back then before he got hurt, I got so disconnected from being the ‘owner’ of him. He wouldn’t listen to anyone, he just did what he pleases and thats why he got paralyzed. Now he listens to every word i say. He wont even pee or do more potty without me. I just hope we never get disconnected again from each other…so we wont ever go through this again! He goes for his 6 week check up on Monday. I’m so excited to go…I’m very curious about what they are going to say!! I hope everything is perfect…and pray that those other 3 disc are getting better! I will post an update when we get back from the doctors.
